What is a “Parent Cooperative Preschool”?

  • We are a program with parent participation.  Parents work with the teacher to enhance our childrens learning.

What is the philosophy of the school and who designs the curriculum?

  • Manchester Co-op is a developmentally appropriate, play based preschool.  This means that we believe kids of this age learn best by hands on experiencing their world not by forced memorization and seatwork.  We provide a wide range of activities that are developmentally correct for these ages (art projects, science experiments, gross motor and small motor toys and activities).  Our teachers derive the entire curriculum used during circle time and keep in mind the developmental needs and abilities of the children they are teaching.

What ages do we serve?

  • We enroll children ages 3 and 4.

Do you have a cut-off enrollment age?

  • Yes, children must be age 3 or 4 as of December 1st of the enrollment year.

Where are we located?

  • We are located at 410 City Rd. in the back of the Nellie Ackerson Builder

What days do children attend school?

  • The 3’s program runs on Tuesday and Thursdays and the 4’s program runs Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

What are the class times?

  • We offer two class times for each age group.  They are 9-11:30 AM and 12-2:30 PM .

Is there a registration fee?

  • Yes.  The current registration fee is $30.00 per family.

What is the monthly tuition?

  • Tuition is $65/month for the 3’s and $75/month for the 4’s.

ALL FEES SUBJECT TO CHANGE AT THE DISCRETION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES.

What is your tuition and registration policy regarding twins or other multiples?

  • For twins, we require one registration fee per family, one registration form for each child, and full tuition for each child.  For multiples greater than two, please contact our registrar for more information.

What are the parent’s responsibilities/commitments to the school?

  • Attend all of our 4 General Membership Meetings
  • Classroom help-participate as needed per month
  • Serve on one standing committee
  • Participate in our all-school annual fundraising activity (currently an auction)

*For twins, these responsibilities are per family.  Responsibilities DO NOT double.  Contact the registrar for special requirements for multiples greater than two.

What are General Membership Meetings?

  • There are four General Membership Meetings held each school year. These meetings include discussion of preschool needs, progress of classrooms. These meetings also can include a public speaker on educational needs found in our classrooms.  An outside parent education expert is usually brought in to speak at these meetings.

What do you mean by classroom help?

  • Once to twice a month you will “work” at the school.   During free time, you play and assist the children in your area.  During music and gathering time, you participate with the children and the teacher.

What are the committees?

  • Each student serves on one standing committee. Each committee is important to the operation and the success of the preschool.  The committees are assembled at registration and apportioned to best meet the needs of the preschool.
